An Unintentional Experiment in Genetics

We planted some wildflowers a couple of years ago:


This is what an Indian Blanket Flower is suppose to look like .

This is an example of some flowers we got this year that are suppose to be Indian Blanket. The petals vastly different even though the colors are the same. These are wildflowers and reseed themselves every year (which is the aspect that I love about them). We have no idea what it crossed with to get like this. We also had some Albino ones that grew (see picture below). It is strange. I wonder what we will get next year!
