National Parks!

The best thing about visiting Jamie's dad is that he lives very close to some pretty amazing scenery.  Okay, maybe second best 'cause we probably wouldn't go there if they didn't live near by.

Zion National Park:

We went to Zion with Jamie's dad, step-mom, sister and her husband and kids.

The narrows were packed, but we still had fun.  

Went flying:
I wasn't there I was taking one of my licensing exams for my teaching license.  But, it looks like they had fun.  Both Uncle Andy and Grandpa are licensed airplane pilots.

We also had some fun just hangin' around the house.  Seth helped build the grill there.  In fact her pretty much took over the project.  He follows you around like a puppy dog waiting for a treat when ever tools are pulled out.  I don't think Grandpa was quite prepared for how forceful he can be when it comes to tools.

Oh, What Do You Do In the Summer Time?

We spent two weeks in Utah this summer visiting family and familiarizing our kids with the state that we grew up in.  The trip was long and  is going to take a few posts to get through.  I tried doing it in one, but it was tedious.

This was the first time that we have flown since Abby was young enough to not need her own seat.  It is a little overwhelming when your family takes up an entire row on an airplane.  The kids did pretty well, apart from being freaked out about looking out the window during take off and landing.  It was cloudy too, so the kids didn't get to see much out the windows.


When we picked up the rental van, it had one mile on it.  When we dropped it off, it had over 1800 miles on it.  Part of me thinks we should have just drove home.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the final mileage, but here's one of the pick up mileage:

We spent so much time in the car that Abby had a little library/art center set up in the back.

The car also had its first experience with vomit.  That, my friends, is why we buy old cars and do our best to junk them before the engine dies.
