Buying a home is not like grocery shopping. When you grocery shop you accept the price the store sets on something, or you don't buy it. Rare is the store that will let you argue about the price that they have set. Buying a home on the other hand is like this: The seller sets a price, usually quite a bit higher than what they really want to get, then the buyer comes along a says, well, I'll pay something usually less than that, then you negotiate.
Our realtor called today to touch base with us about what was going on. Apparently someone said that our house was "beautiful, but overpriced". If you like the house, make an offer for what you think the house is worth, honestly, the worst thing that can happen is that the owners say no and you get your earnest money back. The best thing that can happen? You get a good deal on a house. You never know how willing the owners are to talk unless you start the conversation.

No, I haven't, but we did have some good friends that were trying to sell their house and some one was really interested in it, but because the sink was right across from the gas burners on the stove, the family wouldn't buy it. They even brought in a contractor to see if they could move the stove top, and their spiritual leader that told them it was a no go. I'm not sure what religion they were, but as much as we joke about it, some people take it really seriously.
Selling a car requires the same process. Depressing.
